License Management

The following article exclusively pertains to a Graylog Enterprise feature or functionality. To learn more about obtaining an Enterprise license, please contact the Graylog Sales team.

There are two Graylog product licenses: Graylog Enterprise and Graylog Security. Graylog Cloud licenses are managed by Graylog and will not appear in the user interface.

Graylog Enterprise Licenses

Graylog Enterprise offers all the features of Graylog Open plus additional Enterprise features such as: the Graylog collector Sidecar, enterprise-class log management and analysis, out-of-the-box parsing, Enterprise dashboards, scheduled reporting, and support. Licensed multi-cluster environments receive Enterprise features and benefits that are not available for Graylog Open multi-cluster environments. See Graylog Enterprise for more information.

Graylog Security Licenses

You must have an Enterprise license and a Security license to make use of both products. The Security license was designed for security use cases by analysts. It covers security-related features such as Machine Learning/Artificial Intelligence, an event correlation engine, built-in security expertise, dashboards, and Enterprise support. See Graylog Security for more information.

Import a License

Once you have obtained a license, you can import it into your Graylog interface:

  1. As an administrative user navigate to Enterprise > Licenses in the web interface.

  2. Click on Import new license in the top right-hand corner.

  3. Copy the license key that was emailed to you and paste it into the text field.

  4. Click Import license.

  5. If the license is valid, a preview of your license details should appear below the text field.

  6. Click Import to activate the license.

  7. The license automatically applies to all nodes in your cluster. There is no need to restart the server nodes.

Warning: If there are errors, please check that you copied the entire license key provided by email, without line breaks. The same license is also attached as a text file in case it is incorrectly formatted in the email.

Verify a License

The Graylog web interface displays details about your license. To view information on licensed traffic limits and monitor outgoing traffic, navigate to either one of these pages in the Graylog interface:

  • Enterprise > Licenses

  • System > Overview

Hint: If your license expires, all Enterprise features are deactivated. Log collection continues via Graylog Open.

Expired licenses can be viewed in the audit log. If you have any further questions, please contact our Sales team.
